Where is the School exactly located?
The Asian School is situated on a 15-acre campus, in tranquil and sylvan surroundings of the posh colony of Vasant Vihar, Dehradun, very close to the heart of the city. It is about 5 km from the clock tower.

How far is the School from Delhi?
The school is about 240 km from Delhi.

What means of transportation are available from Delhi to reach Dehradun?
There are buses every hour going to Dehradun from Delhi. It takes approximately 6 hours to reach Dehradun. Some trains take you overnight to Dehradun with two Shatabadi trains taking 6 hours each. Also, there are two flights daily that take you to Dehradun in about 40 minutes.
Further, the School campus is about 3 km from the Railway Station, 5 km from the Bus Stand, and approximately 20 km from the Airport.

Is the School affiliated to C.B.S.E?
Yes, it is.

How does the governing Society monitor the School?
All the rules and regulations of the School Society are followed. The School society recruits the staff, conducts regular training sessions for them and monitors the imparting of academics and the overall functioning of the School.

How big is the school and what infrastructure has been provided?
The School has a pollution-free 15-acre sprawling campus. The classrooms are spacious and well-ventilated. The classes are equipped with a computer & and projector and other teaching aids, including Internet and multimedia. Physics, Chemistry, Life – Science, Language, Multimedia, Computer, History, and Geography Labs have been provided. A Wireless LAN has been set up to access the Internet. The School has an exhaustive library, playgrounds, and a swimming pool. There are separate hostels for Junior Boys, Senior Boys, Junior Girls, and Senior Girls.

How big is the hostel?
Hostels are large and airy with a capacity of 100 children each. Each hostel has an attached common room for their leisure and spare time activities and a prep room for self-study.

Is the girls’ hostel separate?
Yes, the School has a separate hostel for girls. The Boys’ hostels and the Girls’ hostels are in different areas of the campus, separated by a guarded gate and under constant surveillance by CCTV cameras.

Who looks after the boarders in the hostels?
There are Dorm Parents and Wardens on each floor to look after the boarders. In addition, there are housekeeping staff to clean and help the younger children get ready. They also help girls and Sikh students who need help with their hair. Further, all these are closely monitored by the Head of Residence (‘HoR’).

Are there international students at the School?
Yes, we have students from different countries. Special care is taken to ensure that the international students settle down in the new culture.

What are the arrangements, if a student falls sick?
There is an infirmary on the School campus manned around the clock with two trained nurses. The best pediatrician (child specialist) in Dehradun visits the school daily. The school has a tie-up with one of the best multi-specialty hospitals in case of any serious complaint.

How do you remove the academic shortcomings of the boarders?
Remedial classes are held in the afternoon and the evening under the supervision of tutors and dorm parents for the subjects children need help with.

What do the children do on weekends?
Certain activities such as arts and crafts, debating, quizzing, etc are organized in campus or at times, the boarders are taken for an outing in an organized way.

How frequently do boarders go for an outing?
They go once a month. They are escorted by the HoR, Dorm Parents, Wardens, and teachers.

When can the parents meet the children?
Once a month. Parents can take their ward for a night out on the last Saturday of the month.

Can parents call up their children?
They can make calls on specific days and times.

Do you have qualified teachers?
Yes, they are qualified as per the C.B.S.E norms.

How do you appoint the teachers?
They are selected and also further, trained by the School society as per the C.B.S.E norms.

Do you have any provision for the orientation of the teachers?
Yes, the Education Management Center of the School Society regularly conducts service training and orientation programs for the teachers.

What steps do you take to check the indiscipline among boarders?
We follow a zero-tolerance policy. No act of indiscipline is ignored. The School has a Disciplinary Committee which takes immediate action.

How good is the food provided to the boarders?
Home-cooked, hygienic, nutritious vegetarian and non-vegetarian, Indian, Chinese, and Continental food is served in the Mess. Milk is served three times a day. Fruit and dessert once every day. The food is wholesome, nutritious, and tasty.

What arrangements have been made for the entertainment of the children?
The boarders play indoor and outdoor games. They go to the gym and swimming pool. They watch TV for half an hour every day.

Does the School have any arrangement for the parents to stay on campus for 2-3 days?
No, as it disrupts the child’s schedule if the parents stay on campus. In addition, we cannot verify the backgrounds of other people who are escorting the parents. Hence, we do not have that facility keeping in mind your child’s safety.

My child likes to play a particular sport – is there any coaching facility?
Yes, coaches come to train the students in various sports such as basketball, cricket, swimming, badminton etc.
